Eat your heart out, Bob Vila!

January 25, 2015

Over the last few weeks we have been tremendously fortunate to receive baby gifts from family and coworkers. It was honestly rather overwhelming as to how much stuff was purchased for us, and it made us feel incredibly loved and appreciated by everyone.

Growing our family and raising a baby is not going to be cheap, and it was something we were very worried about affording given that we had always hoped to keep Nikki at home to raise her. Because of the generosity of our respective families, friends, and coworkers we were given every item that we needed and then some to provide our daughter with the best and safest environment we could. It has been a huge weight lifted from our shoulders.

I've spent a number of weekends now assembling all of the things that people got for us. There are more things not pictured here, such as a car seat/stroller combo, a rocker/swing, tons of clothes, a Pack and Play, etc. Today I finally was able to finish up the dresser, which was from Ikea, which means it came in 65 boxes and contained enough pieces to qualify for it's own area code.

We love the way everything turned out and while we still have some small odds and ends left to finish up her room the bulk of it is there. The pictures make the room look small but trust me that there is plenty of room in there.
