Second ultrasound and fourth bloodwork

July 7th, 2014

This day will be one that we will remember until the end of time. It marked so many major milestones in our journey to have a family.

On this ultrasound we were finally able to see one of our kids. It looked like nothing more than a bright circle in the middle of a dark circle (the fetal sack) but the level of happiness we had over it was immense. For the first time we could actually see something!

There was no hCG test this day, which was also a major milestone. What it meant was that the fetus had been developing well enough and was far enough along that hCG numbers wouldn't be their method of tracking the baby's growth. Our baby was more than just a number!

Lastly, and most importantly......... we had a heartbeat. How do you even describe what it's like to hear life in your child for the first time? We now had both a visual and an audible experience that our baby was alive.

  1. I'm so happy that you've been writing this entire time. It's wonderful to read your thoughts from the beginning.
